• George Butler

    George Butler is an artist and illustrator specialising in travel and current affairs. His drawings, done in situ are in pen, ink and watercolour. In March 2014 he was commissioned by Doctors of the World to record the living conditions of the Syrian refugees in the Bekaa valley in Lebanon. Again the work was shown on the BBC and in the Guardian before being exhibited at the V&A Museum

    Paul Burgess

    Paul Burgess is a freelance illustrator, designer, photographer, artist and writer. He lives and works in St Leonards-On-Sea. He is also Senior Lecturer for BA(Hons)/MDes Illustration at the University of Brighton. His clients include: The Guardian, Penguin Books, Island Records, The Observer, Elle,  GQ Magazine, Radio Times, Greenpeace, Harper Collins, New Scientist, The Independent, Sunday Times, Sex Pistols, Rough Trade Records, Top Shop, MTV, and many other editorial, design and advertising clients.

  • HiFest - Quentin Blake

    Quentin Blake

    Quentin Blake is a name that is synonymous with children’s book illustration. He is best known for illustrating books for Roald Dahl, as well as having written and illustrated over 30 books himself. More recently he has worked with David Walliams’ The Boy In The Dress and Mr. Stink. Quentin has also kindly donated a number of signed prints and books towards our charity raffle.

    Founded by Jamie Mitchell and Mark Callaby in 2011 Ohh Deer aims to be THE place to buy quirky illustrated gifts for one and all. Stocking T-shirts, phone cases, greeting cards, prints, homeware and stationery featuring the work of countless top illustrators including Gemma Correll, James Barker, Lucie Sheridan, Melissa Castrillon and Jordan Carter. Ohh Deer are partnering with HiFest to present Christmas Card Making Workshop with Gemma Correll.

    Dora Dewsbery

    Dora Dewsbery is a Hastings-based artists and illustrator. She draws from her surroundings and experiences. Creating originals on wood or paper to textiles and household goods. Books, commissions and also prints, some of which have joined the V&A’s private collection. She has exhibited several times in London, as well as Barcelona, Berlin and not forgetting her home town of Hastings.

    Lawrence Zeegen is an educator, illustrator and writer. His new book 50 Years of Illustration charts contemporary illustration’s rich history. The book explores the contexts in which the discipline has operated and looks historically, sociologically, politically and culturally at the key factors at play across each decade.
