This year HiFest will have two spaces that will host a number of talks, panels, Q&A’s and screenings with some of the industry’s leading practitioners. Talks are free to attend, for all ticket holders.

HiFest 2017 - Children's Book Illustration‘CHILDREN’S BOOK ILLUSTRATION’ (12AM)

Paul Burgess sits down with three of Flying Eye Books top children’s book illustrators to discuss what it takes to inspire, educate and entertain young minds.


HiFest 2017 - Tim King‘DRAWN ON REAL LIFE – THE EVERYDAY STORY OF 2016’ (2PM)

From celebrity deaths to the surprise EU referendum result and major moments in politics – 2016 was a monumental year. Tim King takes us on an illustrated journey through the year, and reveals how he turned his daily drawing project into a self-published Kickstarter book (and got a swear word on the news).

HiFest 2017 - Glen Whiting‘PINK FLOYD TO PEPPA PIG’ (3PM) @ The Palace

Head of the new University Centre Hastings Animation Art and Application B.A. Glen Whiting gives an illustrated talk about his career from his work on Pink Floyd’s “The Wall” to “Peppa Pig” and his ambition for the new course. Followed by Q&A.

From album covers, music videos and merchandise to drawing David Bowie live on stage! Our panel discuss the array of ways illustration and music combine, and the challenges that come with collaborating with another creative industry.
